Where do I start with this one...?
It’s always an honour to capture each wedding, but there’s something quite special about being asked to capture a fellow tog’s wedding.
Danielle and I met for coffee one day in Poole along with her close friend. We sat and chatted and it was the most casual consultation, just general chit chat. Danielle is a fellow tog, working with newborns and families (you should check out her work), so we got sidetracked pretty easily. Believe me, it’s not difficult for me to get off-topic. We must have been sat talking for a good couple of hours, but eventually we did talk about her and Luke’s upcoming wedding.
The ceremony was held at The Guildhall in Poole, a stone’s throw from the quay, and still remains as one of my favourite local venues. Their reception was all held at their grandparent’s house in nearby Parkstone. Last summer was a classic, long hot summer, which made this an ideal way of celebrating the big day. Who doesn’t love a good barbecue after all. Following the ceremony, we did a few family shots before bundling onto the coach that had been organised to ferry everyone between ceremony and reception (genius idea).
Once we arrived, it was suit off and shorts on for everyone, and it quickly became one hell of a fun party. It was almost 3:30 pm by the time we arrived and I was gasping for a cuppa, but Danielle’s grandfather was insisting I had a proper drink - they’d even bought in my favourite gin and tonic - so they allowed me to have my cuppa, but by 4:15 pm I was given a large gin. Amazing!
Amazing that I managed to stay sober.
This was hands down one of the most relaxed weddings to date, and it helped create that party atmosphere the couple were wanting. We headed out into the nearby park for the couple’s shoot later in the evening as the sun was starting to sink a little, and then back to the house for more food and drink. I don’t remember what time I left (must’ve been well after 11 pm), but I had the most amazing day and have made a great friend in the process.
Anyway, that’s enough rambling from me. Check out the photos!
And if you’re recently engaged and fancy a chat about wedding photography over a cuppa and some cake, I’d love to hear from you.
Until next time,
